Dr Pieter Verstraete is a Theatre scholar, currently residing in Berlin. He has taught courses in Theatre Studies/Drama, Cultural Studies, Communication Studies, and English/American Literature in the University of Amsterdam, Radboud University of Nijmegen, University of Exeter, Bilgi University Istanbul, Bilkent University, Atılım Universtity, Hacettepe University Ankara, and University of Groningen. His research focuses on contemporary music theatre, post-migrant theatre, and performative protest. Post-doc periods linked his research on post-migration to Ankara University (Tübitak Foreign Citizen Fellowship), Sabancı University (Mercator-IPC Fellowship), and Bilgi University (Türkiye Bursları Fellowship), and most recently to the Free University Berlin (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship). He also works as a freelance theatre and cultural critic, among others for Theaterkrant. And he advises the Dutch Council for Culture in the monitor committee opera.
